Favorite Things

Coffee table books I recently purchased from One Kings Lane and Borders.

Working to get s+s all shiny and new has me feeling a little stressed, but this week I turned a corner. Taking some time to make my house a home is having a very positive affect on my mood. For some reason getting your home in order can make stress just melt away and I've always desired to have a sanctuary to return to at the end of the often long workday. I decided to share a few of the things that are currently making me happy.

My favorite room diffuser - White Fig from Archipelago
I've placed one in every room, as you can see in the above pic.

and  I wore it immediately. It has a great fit and is the perfect color.

into my stereo and it's been in heavy rotation ever since.

I took this photo with Instagram and I've become a little
obsessed with it. It's now the screensaver on my white iPhone.

20+ Chic Summer Pieces for the Plus Size Girl

For those of you like me who desire to be stylish, but have a hard time finding of the moment looks in your size - this post is for you. S+S has curated a list of 21 items that are currently in store or online (or hanging in my closet) that cater to the plus size girl who wants to rock this season's top trends. You'll forgive me if the list includes more dresses than other items as I'm big on dresses in the summer (quick, easy, and light on fabric.) I'm sure you'll find something to love within the list and extra points for most of them being on sale right now!

Do you have any additions for this list? If so, tell us in the comments!

Chic at Home | Nicole Gibbons of So Haute Style

Welcome to a new feature here on s+s - Chic at Home. Every fabulous woman should have a stylish abode she retreats to after a long day spent gracing the world with her glamorous presence. Our weekly series will provide a peek inside the homes of those women. This week's Chic at Home post showcases the Harlem home of Nicole Gibbons, fashion publicist and founder of SoHauteStyle.com.

Several images of Nicole's apartment reside on my Pinterest board for inspiration as I complete decoration of my own apartment. As with most NYC apartments, Nicole's small space had to be multi-functional. Living room, dining room and home office all reside in the same room. In a post on Brooklyn Limestone, Nicole stated she created a floorplan that has three separate zones for relaxing, working and dining. "Since I entertain a lot I made sure that all of the zones flowed together so that each could offer versatility when I have guests over."

Jetsetting | Bonne Fête de la Bastille

In honor of Bastille Day I wanted to share with you some photos from my trip to Paris. These are from a few years ago, but still relevant none the less. The City of Lights was then and always will be captivating for me. I look forward to a return visit next year and perhaps an extended stay at some point in my life.

Jones Magazine Summer 2011 Cover

Today Jones Magazine gave a preview of their Summer 2011 issue, releasing a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the cover.

It's nice to see a fashion magazine actually use models on the cover, in this case Tsanna Latouche, America’s Next Top Model finalist Fatima Siad and Mick Szal. The video is a fun look at how the cover came to be and a sneak peek at the fashion spreads that may be featured in the issue.

Jones Magazine offers more details on the issue on their site. The Jones Magazine Summer 2011 issue will be on newsstands July 19th and I'll definitely be picking up a copy.

What do you think about the cover? Are you going to rush out and pick up the issue? Let us know in the comments!
